Getting an education is the desire of every parent for their child. It is a key that unlocks countless opportunities and hopes for a better future. Those who have not had an opportunity to get an education, think they have missed out a lot but learning is not just from school because life itself is a class.

Never be ashamed of the work you do.

While attending degree classes, the main goal is to be prepared for work and career paths. You are said to be lucky if you do good courses that are considered to create a path to financial success; a course like engineering or medicine. Some disciplines though, like arts, still have a strong disdain for, and it's hard to have actual jobs from it.

Having a degree is seen as a key to getting a job, but this could not be further from the truth. Many graduates end up doing something way different than what they studied for. You need to learn that no work is shameful no matter what you become after getting your degree.

Similarly, in life, it is very easy to take a completely different path. With the rates of unemployment and overproduction of degree graduates, you do not have the luxury of being choosy. You could be a graduated engineer and you have very high expectations when you go to the job market. Only to find other people in similar situations who have also not gotten something close to what they studied for.

Some graduates have given up and become bitter with life and have resulted in making very poor choices in their lives, like using drugs or doing illegal businesses because they cannot wrap their minds around the thought that it's actually that tough. Does it mean you should also fold your hands and be gloomy about the situation? Every job you do can be honorable if you make it. Instead of sitting at home and expecting your parents to continue providing for you, get out there and do what you need to do.

Take that low-paying job, start with eating. Show your skills, agree to climb up the ladder, and prove your value.  Your angel reminds you to not be ashamed of the work you do as long as it puts food on your table and is not illegal.

Get to know as many people as you can, they will get you where you need to be.

Once you are doing a degree course, you get to interact with so many people. Lecturers, fellow classmates and you also have the ability to network with so many of your peers. If you are able to get a job after school this can only continue.

While in university you can volunteer in clubs, attend talks that allow you to network, join student societies and you also get opportunities to attend events in the field that you would want to work in. You should take advantage of this and make this a platform for getting good connections because, over the course of your life, your network becomes your ability to make things happen.

In life, getting to know people will help you make things easier. Do you want to start a business? They will serve as potential clients. Do you want to get a better job? It is great to have the ability to message interested parties you're looking for a job and be able to get a job offer back.

You work with others and help them build the world they want as you also build the one you want. You should concentrate on the things that add value to your life. Learn to get yourself out there and express yourself in a meaningful manner.

You need to be disciplined if you want to go far.

In university, no one will force you to attend classes or make sure that you hand in your assignments on time. Your education is all up to you, which means if you are not seriously disciplined, achieving that degree will remain a dream because you will have to retake classes until you measure up. You have to know when to say no to attending parties when to give extra time to a difficult class to improve your performance and focus on a more stress-free life by doing your schoolwork on time.

Today you are reminded that education is incomplete if you have not learned discipline. In life, you will not always be excited to do things. You will not be eager to do that job, to clean up, or to improve your life all the time. The minute you give in to your mood swings all the time, you will not move ahead. You could be a person who wants to save your money and invest in buying a property, but anytime your friends call you out to attend parties, you always agree and blow up your savings.  This will be a continuous cycle until you set your priorities right and have the guts to sacrifice some things from your life.

Learn to be a critical thinker.

When aiming for your degree, you get to do projects and prepare reports on studies you have collected. You are encouraged to write essays critically and evaluate concepts and theories. During this process, how you think about things both academically and in general life is transformed. You learn to pause and actually delve into what something means. It allows you to express yourself and have more ideas and be able to bring them out in a way that is understood.

In life, you have to learn to look at things more deeply and try to get an understanding. Most things are not as they seem on the surface. That job, that relationship, your health, your money, you have to reflect and see if things are working out and going in the direction you want. Being a critical thinker will keep you from future problems and you will be able to manage the risks that cross your path.
