General Interpretation and Meaning of the Major High Priestess

You have most probably seen the high priestess before, but in different forms - she may be seen in Artemis, Persephone, Isis, and many more archetypes. When you meet her, you will notice her seated between Salomon's Temple, Jachin, and Boaz on a cubic stone.  

Jachin (right) is usually called the Establishment Pillar and Boaz (left) the Strength Pillar. The pillars also portray the dualism of nature, male and female, right and wrong, beneficial and harmful. 

In light of her position between the two, it seems that she has the duty of acting as an intermediary between the depth of reality and our worldly existence. There should be no doubt about it: the card shows a nocturnal scene, implying that the world in which she lives and protects is one that may seem frightening at first, but has the potential to lead us towards the growth of our own identities.
